I have been reading through the book of John and, while I have done so many times before, this time God gave me a lens of renewal. Along with so many of you, I have been just.plain.dead. I am tired of being stuck in the house, I am tired of having no motivation to do anything, I am tired of wearing a mask, I am tired of not seeing my friends and throwing bonfires…
I am tired of not living!
As I was reading through John today, it was the element of nature that stood out to me. I think since God knows I get my energy and joy and refreshment from being outside, he gave me those glasses to read His word through this time around. Right out of the gate in John 1:3-5,
“All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
“The evidence of modern cosmology points toward a supernatural Creator.” – Lee Strobel
Strobel is referencing something that is a fairly new term for me in study—the cosmological argument. Its meaning…
“An argument for the existence of God which claims that all things in nature depend on something else for their existence (i.e. are contingent), and that the whole cosmos must therefore itself depend on a being which exists independently or necessarily.”
“Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
“Renew my spirit, Refresh my soul and Give strength to my physical body, Heavenly Father.”
I have added some verses that have helped me and hopefully will bring you some encouragement as well.
Renew my spirit
Refresh my soul
And give strength to my physical body
Take some time to dive deeper into His word. Choose a verse or two above and explore all around it.
Love you friends, Kristina
